Preferred Name: NyuNyu (or just Nyu)

Positions: Founder, Leader, Event Organizer, Panelist, Webmistress
Costume History: My fandom began years ago with Star Wars and then expanded to the anime/manga world and beyond. I've been cosplaying and attending cons since 2003 - really not all that long, but I've stayed very active in the convention/cosplay community. I have over 35 costumes under my belt. I have been part of various cosplay groups for performances as well as performing solo. I also enjoy running events with SunaCosu at local conventions.
Other Interests: I really got involved with the Arizona cosplay community after the first AniZona - this is when I first met those that would become the founding members of AZHP - then known as just “The Hobbyists Forum.” I’ve been AZHP's Cosplay Moderator since it’s conception and without it I would not have met most of my best friends, cosplayers and otherwise, and realized I have leadership skills. In more ways than one, AZHP is part of the reason you see this site before you. :) I’m a senior at ASU, studying to be a special education teacher. I also enjoy taking photos and sewing for my Asian ball-joint dolls. I love to meet other cosplayers and help them with their costumes. I’m not the best at initiating conversation, so please come up and say hi! I admit I don’t have all the answers, and there are many things in the costume worldI’ve never tried, but I’m willing to share what I know!

Costume History: I have been costuming since for as long as I remember, from using my mother's clothing to begging her to help me make something. By the time I was 13, I was sewing my own designs focusing primarily on historical costumes. I attended Moore College of Art and Design in 1996 and graduated with a degree in Fashion Design. From 2000 to 2004, I ran my own business creating historical costumes and custom wedding gowns. To this day I continue to costume in my free time (of which I have copious amounts... really). I am quite happy to design for myself rather then customers once more. I love helping others with their own creative endeavors and learning new things from them as well.

Positions: Event Organizer, Panelist
Costume History: I have loved manga and anime for many years. My first anime, Nausicca: Valley of the Wind, made me go out and buy every Miyazaki movie every made. I started cosplaying about 3 years ago. I have about ten costumes taking up space in my closet. I am a huge fan of Japanese fashion as well and love taking part in fashion shows and lolita events. I still consider myself a novice when it comes to costuming, but I have a history with beading, sewing, painting and sculpting and those skills have helped me create some really beautiful costumes. I'm really looking forward to this club growing and helping others achieve their costume goals, whether it's cosplay or original designs!
Other Interests: On a more personal note, I'm married and have a little boy who often cosplays with me. I am currently attending ASU to get a dual certificate in teaching both elementary and special education. I love working with kids and find that sometimes I have way too much in common with them. We both love anime, pokemon, and video games. I also love tabletop gaming and RPGs. I have a very busy schedule, but I always make time for costuming. It's a hobby I can't refuse! I do have to finish my homework first, though.
Awards: Honorable Mention (Phoenix ComiCon 2008 Masquerade)

Bio: I first delved into the anime scene back in 1997 with Princess Mononoke and Bubblegum Crisis. It was the relief away from work and school that kept me sane and at least having a small social life. I have since briefly expanded through manga and more into Asian live action films and television dramas in general. My first real involvement with the community came about through meeting Frank_Castle at the original AniZona and the soon created Hobbyists Forum to keep like minded folks together. My involvement grew and evolved with this group that is Arizona Hobbyists Paradise (AZHP) today, a premiere social organization for like minded folks in Arizona. It is through AZHP that I met NyuNyu, along with just about everyone else that's been with Sunacosu since inception. I am now fully engaged in many conventions around Arizona as a console gaming chairman. I am happy to see Sunacosu as a related organization which can grow together with AZHP to unite other like-minded folks in a fun and sociable setting. We strive to keep the community involved with various social events, activities, and occasional sponsored events. Currently, I have no plans for further education, after completing my masters degree at Arizona State University. I currently work at Honeywell Aerospace in Tucson, but often come to Phoenix on the weekends to host or join events. While I am personally not much into costuming in general, I help support Sunacosu through forum management & hosting and assisting in events coordination.
