FAQ

What are workshops?

Workshops are an open time to work on your costume with other people. You can bring your sewing machine or other tools and materials and your in progress costume. You can get a second opinion or help on the costume if need be. Why workshops? We all know it's more fun to work together than alone, and often times, other members can share resources, skills, or new ideas to help you with your project, where going it alone may have left you stumped! Make sure to bring any and all materials you need. Other members may not have a sewing machine or other supplies you can use.

What kind of presentations will there be?

All kinds! Any subject relating to costuming is game. If there’s something you’d like to see - suggest it! If there’s something you’d like to present yourself - ask us! They may be basic overviews of sewing techniques, wig styling, prop making, or more specific topics such as working with fiber glass, sewing boot covers, or making updo wigs. These are comparable to panels you see at conventions. They will usually be around 30-45 minutes in length, but can go longer depending how much everyone gets involved.

Do I have to be a certain age to attend SunaCosu events?

Certainly not! We are an all ages group. However, please exercise caution when bringing children to our events. Keep a good watch on them as we are not responsible. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at events away from a convention. (These rules do not apply to SunaCosu events held at other, larger events, such as convention panels. In this case the convention's particular policies would apply instead.) At events such as our Halloween party, there may be alcoholic beverages for people of age and everyone's behavior is not guaranteed to be appropriate for your little ones! :) So please just use your common sense.

Will you be at [x Convention]?

Check our Events page for updates on where we will be and when!

HELP! I can't register on the forum! What is wrong?

Make sure you enter the correct numbers and scroll all the way over to see the confirmation code and submit button. It may be troublesome, but it keeps out spambots. Sorry for the inconvenience!

How do I make [x] costume?

Make sure you provide a reference picture before asking for any costume help. Specific questions will get better answers. Thanks!

Will the meetings always be in Tempe?

The regular meeting space is located in Tempe, and we will use this often, as it is free, and a fairly central location in regards to the whole Phoenix metro area, and most of our members are located on the east side of the valley (sorry west valley). However, from time to time, we do have gatherings at other locations based on the activity, such as the west valley or central Phoenix. If you have a good location idea, please suggest it!

Where is the Pyle Center located?

The Pyle Center is free community center that SunaCosu makes use of for many meetings and workshops. It is located in the same block at the Tempe Public Library, at Rural Road and Southern Avenue. The full address is 655 E Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282. Here is a map.
