Post Re: SunaCosu Open Workshops
11-15 is likely going to be the date of the Food Drive Picnic which is why I talked about cancelling that workshop in the other thread. :) But as I already posted, there is no decent sized room available that day at Pyle, so it is currently scheduled to be at my place. We COULD move it to the 8th, but I do not advise it as 3 SunaCosu events in a row is excessive and we all have busy lives. ^^; (Halloween Party-Workshop-Food Drive)

10-18 is the day of the Atomic animefest where we are hosting Iron Cosplay, but that will likely be in the afternoon. (I'm not sure, I haven't been given a time) If the workshop is early we could maybe incorporate both. (The Pyle Center is a hop and skip away from Mesa Atomic anyway)

EDIT: Also I think resin casting at the Pyle Center would be a no no. o.o Those rooms don't even have windows let alone enough ventilation.

Hence why dates are subject to change, I'll update once we have a firm date for the food drive. We can do the Resin at my place then, I have a garage and it should be cool enough to work in there by the end of october.

Marians Tips for a Professional Presentation
1. Iron every seam before moving to the next one as you sew.
2. Iron your costume/cosplay before you wear it, every time.
3. Hem & trim stray threads to keep the look clean.
4. Remove your badge for masqurade, fashion show or photos.
5. Use the shower to wash anything that you can, hang it up to dry in the bathroom and use the hair dryer to dry it if it needs it. Hang it up if it’s just a little dirty and spray with fabreeze before wearing the next day.
6. Pick up a can of antibacterial spray and liberaly spray down the inside of costumes as soon as you take it off and hang it so it dry’s completely. This is a tip I picked up from fur suit costumers to use on mascot type costumes.

Post Re: SunaCosu Open Workshops
I don't think resin casting is too messy. ACS did a workshop with it in the Pyle Center. Then again the person doing the demo knew what he was doing. After doing some research, I'm pretty sure we want to do this somewhere we don't have time constraints but plenty of other stuff to do. The minimum cure time for a silicon mold is 75 min but the 6 hour one is probably what we want to use. The 75 min cure time gives us a 15 min pot time (time to mix it, work with it, and pour the mold) while the 6 hour cure time gives us beginners a 30 minute pot time and we will probably need it all. The resin will probably only take 20-30 minutes to cure but that's after we have spent 13-14 hours making our 2 part molds of the gears.

Check out http://www.smooth-on.com/. Its not necessarily where we have to get our supplies from but they have video tutorials.

The dates I can't make work shops are the following:
Oct 11-12
Oct 25-26
Nov 15:
Dec 20-21

and there will be another date in there depending on when my friend's bachelor's party is.

I didn't realize how long they would take. I guese we should try a bunch of difrent test ones and see what works best. I supose we can play Video games, Board games or watch movies while waiting for stuff to cure or work on other tests. There is a michaels a few blocks from my house at Northern and the 101, a hobby loby or something at the 101 and 10 exchange as well about 15 mins away. So if we need extra supply there is stuff close.

On a size note quite a few people from the SWCG have expressed an interest in joining us which is quite exciting. Some of them have done resin work before.

I have requested the 10-25 date. Hopefully they have something. 11-15 was already all booked up.

Well, we did. It's been posted for some time and you said you'd be there. o.O Consider it canceled, anyway, though, in light of other events.

I have not gotten a reply to my e-mail requesting the space yet. ::sigh:: I'll call tomorrow and see if we have anything.

10 - 4 ? i'm trying to figure out if 6 hours is enough time for me to work AND clean up the epic mess i am likely to make ;) i will be there even if i don't work on anything really important. i need to make gun holsters... anyone know where i can buy brass rivets? all i have been able to find are silver and i REALLY don't want to have to paint them all. also if anyone wants me to show them how i can bring my stuff for aging and weathering copper and brass paint.
