Cool thing about this is phoenix comicon is actually going to be in phoenix and now its alot closer to my house i don't have to drive very far to get there. Depending on how things are around that time I might be able to offer people a place to stay for free. We shall see though

Another cool thing is you can take the light rail there! Parking will probably be terrible/expensive/both, though. Also not a lot of restaurants open downtown or in the evenings. >.o Same problem as Mesa CC.
I'll be debuting my awesome CLAMP masquerade costume! 8D

I love the fact that it'll be on the light rail. This time, as long as I don't pack a crap load of stuff, I don't have to bother people to give me a ride up there!

OMG COSTUMING EVENTS! There are more of them this year! How will I have time to change costumes so many times? >.<
Labyrinth Masquerade Ball Enjoy a night of enchantment with fantastic creatures of all kinds. Whether you be fey, elvish, goblin, or other, all will be welcomed to the Labyrinth Masquerade Ball. The night promises music and entertainment, as well as costume contests. Tickets will be sold online prior to the convention. Full details will be announced in February.
Skit Competition Have a great idea for a Masquerade skit but no time to make your costume? Or maybe you just flat-out can't sew? The Skit Competition is for you! Whether you buy your costume on eBay, borrow it from a friend, or commission it from a seamstress, it doesn't matter! Contestants will be judged on the presentation and appearance of costumes on-stage. Full rules and registration information will be available in January.
Costumed Chess Two chess players face off with costumers as the chess pieces! Any type of costume is allowed--television, movie, anime, video game, comics, etc. According to the entrants, we'll divide the costumers into two teams, such as Pirates vs. Ninjas, Sci-Fi vs. Fantasy, or Boys vs. Girls. Special attacks are encouraged. Full rules and registration information will be posted in February.
Masquerade Costume Contest Contestants compete to win awards for costume craftsmanship and performance. This year, we're opening the contest up to original costumes as well as recreations, so let your imagination run wild! Rules and registration information will be available soon.
Recycled Fashion Contest Think outside the box to create costumes and fashions out of recycled items! Make anything--a Gundam costume made out of milk jugs, an evening gown made out of old t-shirts, or a corset made out of cardboard! Craftsmanship doesn't count--we'll award prizes based on creativity and the look of the finished product. Bring a photo of your materials before you started your recycling so we can see the change. Rules and registration information will be posted in January.
Steampunk Fashion Show Aviators and aristocrats, mechanics and militants, pirates and pilots: disembark your airships at Phoenix Comicon! A very special runway has been reserved for the Steampunk Fashion Show, a place for all steampunk enthusiasts to display their fantastic fashions. Walk on your own or bring your whole airship crew--all are welcome. Registration information will be posted in January.
Doll Costume Contest Put your creativity to the test by creating a costume for a doll! All dolls are welcome--Barbie, GI Joe, Dollfie, or even handmade dolls. Design an original costume for your doll, or reproduce an existing costume from any source (television, movies, comics, etc.). Awards will be given for the best costumes and handmade dolls. Official rules will be posted in January.
Hall Costume Contest Our judges will be roaming the halls of Phoenix Comicon all weekend to give awards to those wearing their costumes in the halls of the convention! It doesn't matter if you made your costume or bought it: if we think it's awesome, we'll tell you! There's no need to sign up--just wear your costume in the halls and we'll come find you.

 Re: May 27-30, 2010 - Phoenix Comicon
Only a week left! >.<
How are everyone's costumes and outfits coming along? I'm about 65-70% done with my masquerade costume. It's just so labor intensive. Luckily I have off until PCC otherwise it would not get done. It's killing me, but I'm making good progress with these sew-a-thons with Fuu and Kisa.
My fairy kei outfit for the J-fashion show is done and I am hoping to have time to make a new skirt for the tea party. It's simple but I hope I even have time!
I know several of us are entering the masquerade (Mikoto, Lifelike Kisa, Fuu, myself). Anyone else?

 Re: May 27-30, 2010 - Phoenix Comicon
Lifelike is out :( not gonna get done and I have wings done and leotard done, mace done- just need to make the belt and the helmet and the helmet is about 75% done...so I think I am gonna make it. This year the challenge will just be finishing and getting the darn thing there, The wings are HUGE, 4-5 feet long and 2-3 feet across.....not going to be fun hauling them from the hotel to the center.

Getting finished has been my challenge too but I'm almost there. We can do it! OMG! Huge wings! My sword is huge too but not that bad to carry... I hope the situation isn't too bad downtown for transporting stuff. I can't wait to see it Mikoto. :)

I can't wait to see yours too, I find it hilarious that all the master costumers are killing themselves to get stuff done :)
